Post-Publication Corrections, Retractions, and Editorial Actions
Correction and Retraction Policy
The Indonesian Journal of Applied Science Innovation Outcomes (IJASIO) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the published scholarly record. When significant errors, ethical concerns, or other issues are identified after publication, the journal may take appropriate post-publication action.
Depending on the nature, seriousness, and evidence associated with an issue, IJASIO may publish a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction. Post-publication decisions are made through an appropriate editorial assessment and are intended to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
Core Principles
Published information should be corrected when a material error affects the scholarly record.
Post-publication changes should be clearly documented and visible to readers.
Authors and the editorial team share responsibility for addressing credible concerns.
Editorial actions should preserve the reliability and traceability of the published record.
Corrections
A correction may be issued when a published article contains an error or omission that affects the accuracy, clarity, or usefulness of the article but does not invalidate the overall scholarly contribution of the work.
Corrections may concern factual information, author information, affiliations, figures, tables, references, metadata, or other published information where an amendment is appropriate.
Corrections should clearly identify what has been changed while maintaining a transparent connection between the correction and the original article.
Minor Corrections
Minor typographical, formatting, or non-substantive errors may be corrected directly in accordance with the journal's publishing workflow when such changes do not alter the meaning, interpretation, or scholarly conclusions of the article. Where appropriate, a correction record may be maintained to ensure transparency.
Retraction
A published article may be considered for retraction when there is clear evidence that its findings or publication process are seriously compromised, or when retaining the article in its current form would materially mislead the scholarly record.
Potential grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to:
- Significant fabrication or falsification of research data or findings.
- Serious plagiarism or substantial unattributed use of another person's work.
- Major errors that invalidate the article's principal findings or conclusions.
- Serious ethical violations involving research participants, data, or research procedures.
- Duplicate or redundant publication where the duplication materially affects the scholarly record.
- Unreliable or manipulated research results.
- Other serious publication-ethics concerns that materially compromise the reliability of the article.
Expression of Concern
An Expression of Concern may be issued when serious questions have been raised about an article but the available evidence is not yet sufficient to support a final editorial determination. This mechanism may be used while the journal seeks clarification, supporting documentation, or additional information from relevant parties.
Retraction Notice and Article Record
When an article is retracted, IJASIO will make the retraction information clearly identifiable and maintain an appropriate link between the retraction notice and the original article record.
The journal will seek to preserve the historical publication record while clearly indicating that the article has been retracted. The purpose is to prevent readers, researchers, and indexing services from treating the retracted article as an unaffected contribution.
Correction and Retraction Procedure
Concern Reported
A concern may be raised by an author, reader, reviewer, editor, institution, or other relevant party.
Preliminary Assessment
The editorial team assesses the nature and credibility of the reported concern.
Investigation
Where necessary, the journal may request explanations, documentation, or additional information.
Editorial Decision
The appropriate post-publication action is determined based on the available evidence.
Public Record
Where appropriate, a correction, expression of concern, or retraction notice is published.
Author Requests for Correction
Authors who identify a significant error in their published article should contact the IJASIO editorial team as soon as possible. Requests should clearly describe the error, explain its potential effect on the published article, and provide the proposed correction where appropriate.
The editorial team will assess the request and determine the appropriate action based on the nature and significance of the issue.
Reports from Readers and Other Parties
Readers, researchers, reviewers, institutions, and other interested parties may bring credible post-publication concerns to the attention of the IJASIO editorial team. Reports should provide sufficient information to allow the journal to understand and assess the concern.
Communication with Authors
Where appropriate, IJASIO may contact the corresponding author or other relevant authors to request clarification, supporting evidence, or a response to a post-publication concern. Authors are expected to cooperate reasonably with the editorial process and provide accurate information.
Publication Ethics and Misconduct
Where a post-publication concern involves suspected plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, authorship misconduct, duplicate publication, undisclosed conflict of interest, or other serious ethical issues, the journal may address the matter under its Publication Ethics and related editorial policies.
Appropriate action will depend on the nature of the concern, available evidence, and the circumstances of the case.
Article Metadata and Scholarly Record
When a correction, expression of concern, or retraction is issued, IJASIO will seek to maintain accurate article metadata and clear relationships between the original article and the corresponding post-publication notice. Where applicable, relevant identifiers, bibliographic information, and persistent links should be updated consistently within the journal's publishing system.
Protecting the Scholarly Record
IJASIO seeks to ensure that corrections and retractions are handled responsibly, transparently, and proportionately, with the primary objective of preserving the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
Ethical Post-Publication Practice
IJASIO seeks to manage post-publication issues consistently with recognized principles of publication ethics and responsible scholarly publishing practice.
